He brushed his thumb over my lower lip, his voice smooth and alluring in the dim light. “If the world thinks we’re heading straight to hell, we might as well enjoy the journey there. I’d much rather dance with the devil than sing with angels. Wouldn’t you?”

In the shocking finale to the bestselling series that began with Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose and Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil. A deadly game of cat-and-mouse has them fighting to stay one step ahead of the brilliant serial killer—or see their fateful romance cut short by unspeakable tragedy.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London they knew. But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well. When the two attend the spectacular World’s Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders.
Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any they’ve heard of before. Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him—and getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a terrifying torture device—is another.
Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last mystery to the end—together and in love—or will their fortunes finally run out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?

acourtofhopeanddreams asked: “Hey Hi! For some reason it feels weird to come into your askbox, but I just finished Houdini and I have a very burning question about the ending. I've always identified with Audrey a lot, and not just because we both love Thomas, but with her leg injury the similarities are getting almost scary. Is there a chance you can say if this will be chronic or not? Of course I don't want to burden Audrey with my disease, but strangely enough knowing if it will be healed feels important to me. 1 of 2”
no worries about it being weird! i have a chronic illness and have always known Audrey would face certain challenges as the series progressed based on my own lived experience. Some days I walk around okay, others (like this past week) I hobble terribly or have a cane. It all depends on what’s going on with my body that particular day/week/month, etc. Representation is so important, and while I’m thrilled for those who heal from diseases or who’ve found cures, this is a chronic condition for AR. I want readers who share my symptoms (and who aren’t able-bodied) to see themselves as the hero of their story. It’s vital to show that there’s more to someone than one facet of their existence. To touch on your second note: *everyone* deserves to be loved by someone like Thomas Cresswell :)
hello friends, hello monday, how about a surprise?? SJTR 4’s title is CAPTURING THE DEVIL and it’s scheduled to hit shelves on 9/26/19!!!!!!! this is the epic conclusion for Audrey Rose and Thomas, and I couldn’t be happier that they’re facing the ultimate villain. danger. death. mystery. betrayal. secrets. swoons. i love it and hope you do too! 🖤😈💀
